RAF Sturgate (Lincs)

Sturgate had a relatively short operational history. Opened in 1944 it was home to two squadrons of Lancasters and used for blind landing training. Later it was taken over by USAF with Thunderbolts based for training. Currently the home of Lincoln Aero Club who operate during daylight hours every weekend.

Great stuff. Lincolnshire is dotted with abandoned airfields.
