In My Sites - Aug 2010
Visited with nckt and ConcreteJungle. This place is a giant sewage storage tank. After popping a few manholes to find that pikeys had done away with the ladders since CJ's last visit we eventually got lucky. The heat and steam from the chamber billowed out. Our only problem was that the route down was an 80ft ladder exposed on all sides. http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4096/...88a4f3fa6e.jpg About a third of the way down was the high tide mark. This was my first experience in a sewer and I was greeted by a used condom on the ladder at this point. The sheer size of this place is huge. Some bits knee deep in poo, climbing ladders covered in sanitary towels, condoms and STDs. Having spent two hours down there we left covered in poo. Along with the 80ft vertical climb, knee deep poo, potential for disease, ingrained stench of human excrement in my clothes I hope to never have to return there. Genuinely the most disgusting place I've ever had the displeasure of visiting. That's not to say it wasn't incredible to see or fun to be in there! |

Eeeew I think I was just a little bit sick then, sounds and looks disgusting but huuuuge place. Well done on managing to keep your stomach inside on that one!

Wearing gloves would have been a good idea too, as JG say's them ladders are covered with some serious badman fresh.... |
