Dyson Thermal Technologies - Nov 2011
Originally in the area on the lookout for underground interests which proved fruitless - so swung by to have a mooch around this place. Suprisingly the place still has a lot of original features
During the 1800s the area also became an important producer of refractory bricks for the expanding Sheffield steel industry. The bricks were used to line the furnaces and were made from gannister, a sort of sandstone. From the company’s website - hmmmm i wonder why it closed?? “We also have links with manufacturing bases abroad, such a Beijing Trend in China, so that we can supply products with Dyson TT's renown quality, but at a much more cost-effective price..” Quote:

Looking at that Crompton Parkinson panel with power factor meters labelled "alternator no.?" it appears the factory was up to at least the mid-1900s (say, 1950 when I was born) "off grid" with its own power plant.
