Hi all,
This is my first report on here so bear with me. I'll post this one first as the AA Battery is hidden by the POW Camp in the same location. History on this site is not easy to find to say the least, but what I have learned is the POW Camp was situated here first and the AA Battery was added at a later date.
The AA Battery was located to attack the Luffwaffer over Burtonwood Airbase and Liverpool Docks during the Liverpool and Manchester 'Blitz'. It was home to six 3.7" guns, stores and radio room. Unfortunatly I have no dates as to when it was commissioned or de-commissioned.
The site these days is split into 2, the first part is nice and open as it is in the pics, the second part at the back has been converted into stables. All the buildings remain but they are full of straw and horse stuff. There is still lots to see though
