Funnier is this, a family member was responsible for the installation of the containers at the request of the authorities as a last-ditch attempt at stopping the fights. Not so much about limiting access to the bridge as nobody really cared about that, but more so just to stop the trouble.

When they were craning the containers in a local youth apparently told the crane operator that they "wouldn't stop them".. sure enough with a month both sets of containers had walkways cut through them.

Sometime around 1996, said holes were welded up and all the lower containers were then filled to the brim with concrete. Needless to say those containers a) aren't going anywhere and b) must weigh a bit now and c) have yet to be cut open again.
