Visited with AndyJ and Buddah.
i wont go into the history in detail, but minera in north wales is an area that has been extensively mined for hundreds of years, there are over 200 known shafts and adits in the area but the extent of the mine workings is still unknown.
The area also has an extensive natural cave system which the mine workings have broken into in various locations.
I've had a bit of an obsesion with the place sinse i first visited in August 2010 and have visited countless times, between the 3 of us, we must of spent well over 200 hours underground here, plus the countless hours andy has put into research, getting surveys, overlaying them onto maps and researching possable links between workings and natural cave.
the biggest isue with the area is the established routes between cave and mine are under the controll of one of the welsh caving clubs, and if you know anything about welsh caving clubs, you will know this means the entrances are gated with big heavy metal doors and huge padlocks and if you don't know the secret handshake you aint getting in.
Todays trip was to follow a couple of leads and to see if andys map overlays had actually confirmed a link between 2 sections we had been looking at getting into for a while.
so this visit was through grand turks shaft, along the flat out belly wriggle in an inch of icy cold water then off to mooch at other things.
Anyone thinking of going, the upper bolt on the far wall of the grand turks pitch is loose, this will need addressing if you intend to rig off it.
not so many pictures and the ones i have got are pants due to the useual - Water, Thick mud and steam, best i could do, sorry folks.
Big up to Andy for the research and the rigging and Sean for doing a rediculas climb up was was pretty much a waterfall.
