Stars Brook, Coppull runs under the A49 then winds its way past the former Hic Bibi Pit & now gone & forgotten Hic bibi Brickworks before a lovely bit of Culvetry takes it under the mainline.
At last a culvert you can stand up in!!!, a grand infall & not so pretty outfall with reinforced stone buttresses under the middle section.
Great place for a mooch with the added bonus of fantastic views of Rivington.

All the field drains along here spit out ochre

Time for a brew.

Excellent work matey! Only 1 problem with this though, where is boboil junior?
Cheers Fluxxy, considering my camera had a swimming lesson on Sunday then spent 40 hours drying out in a bag of rice, i feel lucky it even switches on never mind takes a half decent picture.
Oh & as for young Boboil he was waiting patiently for me at the tunnel entrance.

According to legend Oliver Cromwell drank here in 1648. He stopped here whilst pursuing the retreating forces of the Duke of Hamilton after the battle of Ribble Bridge. He left the inscription Hic Bibi meaning "here I drank".
