This c.1845 pair of mill buildings around a courtyard was
Grade II listed in 1996.
I only looked at it less than two months ago and it was sealed up quite tightly. The scallys have had a couple of good goes at it from the look of the perimeter hoardings, battered in two places and cable sheathing all over the floor.
It would seem to have had a recent history of manipulation at the hands of developers. A 2005 approval by
Architects Britch was used to bolster its price on the open market and it was sold in December 2007 and offered again under vacant possession in 2009.
Possibly between owners in these hard times, there’s been a fire on site and the floors are pretty dodgy in places. Armed with my new pocketable compact I had a quick squiz round on my own.
