Just to follow on from Denial and Lazy's visit in April.

Visited with a non Urbexer friend last night. This place is huge, and plenty to see, offices, machine rooms, warehouses various outbuildings etc... It closed in late 2007 and sold to Ainscough Johnstone for future residential development.

Other than the production machinery, there is still quite a lot of metal work and piping still left. Most of the cast iron manhole covers have been weighed in, and suprisingly no security or dogs?

There is a bit of a labyrinth of coridoors and rooms in the main production facility, so it took us some time to discover the way up. Good view from the top but a little exposed to the road from the front staircase.

The office and reception buidings are at the rear of the complex and offer a varitey of interesting rooms - see below.

There are a huge amount of photo opportunities here so I think a second visit would be on the cards.

Lower Packaging and Loading Area

Looking down into the chilled conveyor

This room is on the middle floor of the main production facility. Denial and Lazy have a picture taken from the 'Door to Nowhere' above.

Staff walkway between the plant and the offices

All you beardies will appreciate wearing a 'Beard Snood' when entering a food production area. (Hours of fun if either of had a beard !!!!)

There are a number of these rather detailed switchgear rooms on every floor. One of the rooms in the main staff offices still has power.

Planning office. Pictures of Machinery

This board made us laugh. If you look closely it is the tasting chart for all the different brands.

The last part of the main office block had a lovely waft of fruit as we entered. At the back of the block is the tasting facility which is almost like a school kitchen with lots of Stainless steel and white work tops. We discovered the source of the smell.

I love this sort of stuff it reminds you that there was once a few hundred people working here at one point. Found in the top drawer in the main reception.

Enjoy the shots and big thanks to Lazy and Denial for the initial thread. Oh, and I will be going back soon, so PM me if anyone wants to come?
