Imperial Chemical Industries Kynoch factory at Standish, near Wigan, Lancs. UK.
This factory was set up as part of the 1939-1945 war emergency plans and produced its first complete .303 rounds in October 1940. The Standish rounds were identified with the "K2" Headstamps.

ICI ceased production of ammunition shortly after the end of the war, the site was taken over by HJ Heinz until the 80's. It is now split up into industrial units.

The current use of the land containing the old ammo stores is for paintballing, i am sure there is a bit of irony in there some where! So if your passion is paintballing and UE this is the place for you.
