Apologies to all for my rubbish attempt at my first posting, hopefully this time I'll do better!
New to the forum and in fact new to the hobby, I've followed the exploits of you guys and girls, and been fascinated by your reports, so much so that I decided to get out and give it a go myself, wish I'd started years ago!
Anyway, for my first explore I thought I'd try something local and made my way to what's left of the old Arden mill on the Denton/Stockpoprt border. This place is recorded as being a corn mill back in 1812, in that year it was attacked by Luddite supporters who stole the machine milled flour and sold it cheaply to locals, the occupation of the mill was ended by the militia in the form of the 'Scots Greys', several of the Luddites were taken away and dealt with severely by the authorities. At the turn of the 19th century it's recorded as being in use a paper mill, and was most recently known under the name Mill Hill Farm. Sadly, apart from a couple of secured areas at the front, the place is in a serious state of decay, although there is still some pretty impressive ironwork holding up what does remain.
For a more detailed history and some old pics of the Arden mill you can visit the following link:

So on with some pics, sorry they're not the best quality, can't afford a posh camera... mind you I wouldn't have a clue how to use it if I could!
Thanks to everyone for your friendly welcome and advice.. much appreciated, cheers.
