Default Wm. Rainford Concrete Holdings - St. Helens, Feb 2011 - 17-02-2011, 21:36

This was my favourite mooch so far, it was blowing a gale, the roof panels were flapping and banging, the walls were rattling, and all sorts of screeching noises were coming from the wind blowing through open bits all over the place, it all gave it a kind of surreal feeling, especially as I was alone.
Can't find too much history of the place, it was Wm. Rainford Concrete Holdings, making all sorts of concrete blocks, paving, pre-cast sheeting etc., their head office is registered in Aintree, Liverpool... also found mentions of Bootle and a quarry in Cumbria. They now seem to be a part of the Thomas Armstrong (concrete blocks) Ltd group, maybe it was as a result of a takeover that the St. Helens site was shut down, probably shifted production elsewhere.
So on with a few pics, I hope you especially appreciate that paper bird hanging from the roof, I stood there a long time waiting for it to stop flapping in the wind, the things we do for art! hahaa!!

Thanks for Looking... and of course... be careful out there.

Cool, I don't recall seein this place reported on before. Anywhere that's still got machinery in it is always a good mooch in my eyes!

Good work sir!
