Default White Coppice, Birkacre Falls and Lead Mines Clough water photography - 05-08-2012, 18:37

Few shots from three trips out, the first being White Coppice gorge. A really nice place for photos but some steep climbs and gets a little slippy underfoot!

Secondly, Lead Mines Clough. We went for a wander round here last week, just off the Anglezarke road where people jump into the reservoir off the bridge. There are a few examples of old mining workings here, with the water wheel pit and a mine entrance.

The last in the set is a recently re-furbushed waterfall at the back of Birkacre Lodge inbetween Chorley and Coppul. The waterfall has only recently looked like this, as it was much smaller a year ago only being 3 - 4 feet wide. It is now very dramatic and at least 50 feet wide!

White Coppice......

Lead Mines Clough...

And finally Birkacre Lodge...

I had a good read through your 'Jake of Winter Hill' blog a few weeks ago, and I must say I found it really interesting! Ive lived in Chorley all my life, and always been up Rivvy since my younger days! Some great spots for pictures round there and the mines have always interested me..

Have you ever braved the entrance to the 'Slough' up Lead Mines clough, was looking at this the other evening but it looks a bit wet in there!
