Rivington Terraced Gardens

Rivington Terraced Gardens, known locally as the Chinese (or Japanese) Garden sit in the shadow of Rivington Pike and were designed between 1906 and 1922 by Thomas Mawson for the grand estate of Lord William Leverhume.

The gardens occupy 18 hectares, and feature terraces and a pool. There are Japanese and Italian-style gardens, a pigeon tower with a sewing room once used by Lady Leverhulme on the top floor.
