Default Blue Lagoon Belmont june 2010 - 06-06-2010, 13:31

Not strictly urban exploration but...

The Blue lagoon has been a local attraction for many bolton people for many years.

All of a sudden...after what I'd guess would be over 100 years of problem free existence the environment agency have decided it is unsafe. The owner will need to spend £40,000 to bring it up to standard. Being a local bussiness man he doesn't want to spend that much money on something he will get no return on but has said he wil hand it over to a group of residents that may be able to apply for grants.

The resevoir is in the process of being drained at the moment and will take a further two weeks to fully empty.

All though it's not the largest in these parts it is around 80foot deep at it deepest part and as it is being drained allsorts of sunken stuff is appearing from the depths.

according to the environment agency its a flood risk, but it would take a flood bigger than any weve had in the last 1000yrs, sounds like a load of bollox to me .had a look round earlier tonight, theres no sunken treasure showwing yet, only the car which looks like a mk2 cavalier,i will go back again in afew days see if anything else is showing.

Took the dog swimming here the other night, used to jump off the pier when I was a kid, great place and cool walks too.

You just don't know what you'll find. I remember finding an early eighties porn video in the res at Anglezarke and spending the afternoon at boboils meticulously cleaning all the crap out of it and i'm sure it worked to!! Leg warmers and big hair do's porn FTW.

Egregious!
