With TB and a couple of others:
A few photos of the northern face of the quarry, which was served by the "A" series of inclines (the ones that now carry electrical cable in troughing) and are just visible on the horizon:
This shows where we went on our previous visit, on the way home from Pen-y-Orsedd. The blue line follows on from the end of the route of the Dinorwic tramway.
The caban in question, showing the scale of the place. The levels were arranged so that they sloped slightly downhill, making it easier to transport slate:
The tunnel, with a view of the southern face:
On the way up the "C" inclines, came across this drainage sough, where the water went in (!):
And this remains of a tramway, hanging in space, no-one was brave enough for some reason:
Australia Level, clouds rolling in:
Which we do we go from here, ok, straight ahead:
Top of "C" inclines (on the southern face of the quarry):
The view makes it worth while:
Engine shed with two inspection pits:
More saw tables:
part of a crude dust extraction system:
The top of a "B" series table incline on the Australia level, showing 4 loading guides which went onto 2 tables, and (unusually) has an underground cable drum with remote control
