Default Winstanley Hall - March 2012 - 02-02-2014, 16:55

This was my first explore took with a point and shoot so photos are not amazing quality.

A bit of history from Wikipedia

The hall was built in the 1560s for the Winstanley family of Winstanley; the Winstanley family were lords of the manor since at least 1252. The Winstanleys owned the hall until 1596, when the estate was sold to James Bankes, a London goldsmith and banker. Winstanley Hall has three storeys and has a date stone with a date of 1584, but this is not in situ so may not provide an accurate date for the construction of the house. Extra blocks were added in the 17th and 18th centuries. Further and extensive alterations were made in 1811-19 by Lewis Wyatt in a Jacobean style.

Now on with the photos.

We came across a few small bomb shelters around the grounds

Many thanks for looking

Bringing back some memories. Such a shame it has been allowed to get into such a state.

Tis royally fucked now. The upper floors near the front entrance have come down, plus the main staircase leading to the upper floors. Not too long before the whole section comes down.

It really upsets me to see it destroyed this way. St Joseph's has gone the same way.

Some bods were up the other day from English Heritage looking at the best way to save the court yard buildings - not a cat in hells chance of the house being saved now.
