Default The Empire State Building, New York City – April 2007 - 28-07-2010, 17:56

Completed in 1931 and with 102 stories the Empire State building is one hell of a building. When I was peering out of the windows & stood on the viewing platform the views were the best I had ever seen.

I'm writing this just over three years after I went too NYC, Since then I have seen a few skylines in the U.K after a year of exploring but it would seem wrong not to add the views of this one.

I'll go back one day, Climb the bridges too.

It was the world’s tallest building for over 40 years until the twin towers were built. It was designed by William Lamb, using 3400 people to build it. It contains 73 lifts and over 6000 windows...

Good time & a great trip, Gone...

I wasn't at all, I was just looking for cool skate spots at the time.

They are the most tourist photographs that I have ever taken

do they still let you go up to the 103'rd floor in the tiny rickety lift, or just the big publix level (82'nd ?)

You know, you really should keep a personal log. Why bore others needlessly?

Swines. The 102nd/103rd is tiny and circular, it's amongst the TV aerials at the top. When I went it had really flimsy plastic windoiws. There is a vintage lift up to it that holds a couple of people.

I've often wondered how if they ever used it as an airship mooring mast, how did people get on & off the airship ?

i dont think it ever did get used as an air ship dock, the original plan for the building, it only had 85 floors, then John Raskob decided he didn't like the flat roof, so the added more!
