Default Moel Fferna Slate Mine - Jan 11 - 24-01-2011, 14:24

Visisted with Reddood, buddah and 2 non-members.

We headed off to Wales, on what turned out to be a 2 1/2 hour drive.. . After stopping to find a shop that opened before 10am on a Sunday morning in Wales, and pulling over a couple of times to compare the limited navigation equipment we had between us... we arrived!

A brisk hike up the hill and we were rigged and abseiling in pretty quickly.

To be fair, I dont know much about the site but it is well documented so I wont go into it. Briefly, its a slate mine that closed in the 60's. And its massive. A few little climbs and scrambles inside, and I did my first bridge of death (the things you do under peer pressure!). All in all a quality day out, and topped off when buddah went arse over tit coming back down the hill towards the car! Oh, how we laughed.

Considering how dark it is in there, I think the pics have come out well. They make it look as though we actually had enough torches!
