A little morning mooch about this place with Sewer rat & rat13

Formerly a shed yard as part of the Dinting station on what was the Grand Central railway sometime in the 1840's (sources online indicate 1848), in latter years it became a subshed of British rail designated the shed code '39As' (s being for subshed, as it was a little 'un )
It was also the first junction west of the 1980's closed 'Woodhead' route running into Manchester from Sheffield.

In 1969 it was home to the Bahamas locomotive society & housed many vintage 'kettles' until a landowner dispute occured in 1991 whereupon the society vacated the premises & moved the the Keighley & Worth Valley railway at Ingrow.
The place has been pretty much derelict in the 19 years since that time...

Love this sort of stuff.

Iirc, the landowner wanted the Preservation lot off the site so he could develop on it, but his planning permission was refused.

A shot from the 60's...
