Default ARCHIVE - Arachnophobia - Feb 2010 - 22-02-2010, 01:11

Donning a rubber glove over my cast, this was visited with Gone and Urban Soldier (who has the most awesome day job ever!).

After a new, unexplored drain turned out to be too small to explore after recent weather, we headed to the outfall of Arachnophobia to tick it off the list.

Otherwise known as "Platt Field Culvert", this section of Gore Brook goes underground on the opposite end of Platt Field Park to "Gripper" and is loooong. Roughly 1km.

The most recent section is long, wide concrete, and was built in the 1960s according to some old fella I spoke to there the other day.

The older brick sections have incredible iron supports under Hart Road and Wilbraham Road.

Not long in, we found a goldfish. Shame I'd already had my tea.

Gone and US at the Crystal Maze-esque infall...

That side tunnel at the end is a stoop and a half and gets smaller and smaller with little respite. Anyone been all the way down it?
