Arrow West Float Bascule Bridge - July 2010 - 06-07-2010, 20:13

Was in the area on Sunday when a ship approached. Apparently it doesn't happen to often so I jumped out and got a few snaps.

It's interesting to know that they're all unmanned. There is just one team of guys who operate every bridge and lock on here and the ship canal and go around in a little van, operate one lock and then zoom ahead in the van to the next!

Plus Peel put in a planning app in the paper last week to develop this whole area with apartments, offices and hotels - plus develop the Hydraulic Tower.

Oddly enough he never actually went in the control room. When I did the MSC tour the guide said that all bridges were now remote controlled and the guy just used a radio.
