Arrow Tuebrook Culvert,Liverpool-January 2011 - 31-01-2011, 20:02

The source of the Tuebrook can be traced to a spring on Old Swan Hill which is now called Edge Lane. The Brook flows from here and takes a course down St. Oswald Street it then winds its way down Prescot Road and then down Green Lane. behind the Carlton Cinema is the only place that the Brook flows freely overground as it is piped or culverted, from here it heads toward Lisburn Lane.It is culverted all the way to fazarkely.
History has been covered well in Georgies Thread here
http://www.nwex.co.uk/showthread.php?t=8732

Major Repair work on the culvert is being done on the main roundabout replacing old sections with new. This provided an excellent Opportunity to access the culvert.(Thanks to George for research and homework on this beforehand).
First, we tryed the Section on the Green Lane end which was now accesible due to the water level falling due to the repair work further down.
Access on the roundabout section proved awkward even at stupid o'clock, due to it being next to a busy route.Once a gap became available we dashed in one at a time.
We weren't disappointed the culvert went for miles and proved a quite rewarding night. After, going in a far distance we decided to call it a day but a return is on the cards.
Visited with Georgie and wimr

Green Lane Section

Just over half way in.

Some signs of collapse are evident in one section,so careful edging around it was needed.

Towards the end the section got lower and water deeper till we could go no further.

Lower section

Roundabout Section Entrance after dropping into the dugout section.

Just inside the entrance looking back out.

Into the main Culvert.

Is there any chance of picking it up again after the low section that stopped you proceeding ?

Possibly further up via a manhole? But it may all be low for miles.
