Default ARCHIVE - Talargoch Lead Mine. January 2010 - 29-01-2010, 20:43

Earth Worm Jim and I went for a mooch to push my ankle and to ease the mooching itch. A good mooch but ouch, I'm paying the price today. Well worth it though.

Talargoch has been mined for silver and Calamine but it was mainly mined for Lead. The Romans were probably the 1st people to mine the lead here and mining continued till 1984. For more info there is a PDF at http://www.visitprestatyn.com/content/view/106/108/

Before we reached a flooded part and turned around, most of the tunnels are about 4 foot high so it was really great to stretch our backs when we got out again.

Excuse the blurynes but it was so wet there was consenation on my lens. Should have took a lens cloth!

The view from the tunnel entrance. I took this as we left, hence the blurynes from the condenation.

The entrance tunnel.

Only about 3-4 inches of water here.

This was as far as we got. Sides really did seem to glow that much.

My brother Evil Jim.

Rock.

Wet tunnel.

More water.

Flooded tunnel, can't get any further without getting very very wet. May have to take wet suit next time.

Stopping the mountain falling in.
