Another sunday morning and another tx off Morrisey asking if i was still coming, yes i am im already here waiting mon, this mine isnt too far from my house so i wouldnt be late for this.

If you have not been down this mine you are really missing out and today made me realise i absolutely love being underground and how good it is not caring one bit whats going on above ground.

The coal and fireclay mine is a great crawly mine and as iv been here a few times now i was prepered with some knee pads, perfect.

When your not crawling about theres plenty of stops for pics with the managers inscriptions, the brick drift and tub, rusty rails and fossils more than enough to keep any mine explorer happy.

The tunnels extend for under the surrounding hillside but much of it is backfilled or collapsed but what you do get to see is really suprising.

The older working are impressive with the pillar and stall workings for you to see in all there glory if i remember correctly these date back to the late 1800s ?

Visited today with Captain Coalboard,Morrisey,Boboil5,Romanian1,Sparkuk and a reet good pair o scrawpers from bacup.

The Old Workings

Fossil in the roof

The managers inscriptions with the gang enjoying dinner(Big up Morrisey for the pork pie]

The Drift

Thats enough of my pics,
A quality explore with a comedy exit as a dog walker thought he was seeing things as coalboard appered out of the ground.

That fossil pic is stunning mate
Just to add to the comedy exit the dog walker just happened to be a prison officer & his first thoughts were
"oh my god!! I've stumbled across a gang of
escaping prisoners, now where's the nearest nick they've tunneled out of"
Mind you we did look a bit rum
