I remember when they drained Ackers Pit by my house a year or so back. Brought up hundreds of antique bottles, some worth a good £50 or more! I'd keep my eye on this, might find some interesting stuff.

It's back up to full levels again now, so nothing to see. When it was nearly drained, there didn't appear to be much more to see than on the pics.

Goin to keep going back...see what other things appear from the depths!! No doubt there'll be some grim discoveries. Dread to think what might be in the boot of that car

Sounded like a load of bollox to me too the 1000year flood....health and safety gone mad.

I used to cycle up Belmont way when I was in my misspelt youth, this lagoon was to provide water for the mill and bleachworks in Belmont. The mill went long ago, but the bleachworkslasted until a couple of years back. It's a small industrial estate now.

I imagine the lower bits of the lagoon will be full of old cortina's and stuff!

It is a real shame, school holidays spent there up on the bikes and legging it off the pier!! I was there just the other day after checking out Charles Turner Paper Mills to see if it was do-able.

Charlie T's has still got a man on site to oversee whats left of the effluent plant i.e.stop any crap from contaminating the rivers.I think there is also 24 hr security.Used to work there and from what I can gather all the machinery is long gone, all thats left is empty machine sheds.Wasn't the safest place in its operational days so be very careful if you do decide to "do it".
