Arrow Canal Overflow nr Wigan - April 2011 - 04-04-2011, 21:09

Found by complete accident whilst having a recce of some other bits and pieces I want to have a look at. The overflow takes water from the Leeds Liverpool canal between Haigh and Adlington discharging eventually into the River Douglas. Culvert was mostly stone and brick lined varying in height with a nice surprise part way along. Didn't manage to negotiate the full culvert as the height dropped to less than 3 feet and I didn't fancy crawling in shorts. Apologies the shots are all from the floor I didn't have my tripod

The limit of where I reached

Water inflow from canal

weren't that bad. Varied in height from getting on for 6 feet down to what will be a crawl when I go back.

Thas read it wrong Morrisey the culvert is between Haigh and Adlington and takes water from the canal.

The culvert is not far from Aberdeen Bridge.
