Having been warned about the dangers of ‘blackdamp’ waiting to suck the life out of you it was with great trepidation that we ventured forth into this disused colliery.
Very little can be found with regards to the history of the colliery, we can only assume that it opened mid 19th century and was worked up until the middle of the last century. Judging by the height of this place it must have been worked by midgets, maybe that’s why the place closed .......a shortage of midgets?

All in all a very good mooch indeed, could be familiar to 1 or 2 members.
