Its a bit of a vague title but needs must for the safety of the shaft. This particular colliery opened in 1884 was abandoned in 1975 and finally closed in 1979. Coal and fireclay were wound for the adjacent brick and terracotta works.
After a passing conversation with a previous land owner I realised this may be possible so armed with my camera off I went. There is very little left on site and the entire site was due for housing till the developer went belly up.
Main building this may have housed the engine the main pit head was to the rear of the building.
