Default mitchells brewery lancaster 2011 - 25-01-2011, 15:40

this was my first brewery and to be honest i thought there would hardly be anything left in it. but it was not the case, just finding the stairs to go up a floor was the first challenge! but it was worth the get up to see, plenty of areas of interest. thanks to BB for letting me tag along with him off urbex forums.

History:-
designed by W A Deighton in 1901, Mitchell's of Lancaster is a well established family owned pub and hotel company. Established for over 140 years, the company was founded by William Mitchell and is now run by the founder's great-great-grandchildren. The story goes that a chance meeting with a friend provided the money William needed to build his own brewery. Once the brewery was built, William went on to build a number of large hotels and inns, strategically sited within the Lancaster and Morecambe area. The company no longer brews its own beer.

Awesome! Can't imagine what it smells like though after lying disused for a while - breweries smell of all kinds of different things, some nice, some rank.

I reckon it would be like that first part of Ainscough's flour mill at Burscough.
