This was my local church, I could see it from my attic window. So when I noticed scaffolding starting to go up it I couldn't resist.
It was a very windy afternoon, the workers had disappeared, so I quickly donned the high vis and hard hat and went for it.
Job done, time to get back down.
Just about to leap off the scaffolding when a guy in a suit, high vis and hard hat comes round the corner
He says "Hello, how are you?". I reply, expecting the "who are you?" business. But instead he asks how things are progressing up there and if anyone is on site.
I tell him that everyone's gone, I came back to retrieve my bag with my dinner box in it and said "I'm really sorry, I don't recognise you, you're...?".
He replies "The Church of England Architect assigned to the works"
