Thumbs up Winsford salt mine - 10-01-2010, 06:29

Winsford salt mine

Winsford Rock Salt Mine is Britain's oldest working mine. It lies almost 200m under the Cheshire countryside and has a fascinating History.

It also hides some surprising facts. For example, did you know that towns around Winsford like Northwich, Middlewich and Nantwich,
all take their names from salt production, with 'Wych' often meaning 'Brine Town'?

check this place out it was a laff lol

we went for a UE as it caught my eye driving past so we did lol
good result till the security almost caught us lol

Here are my pix

Need to visit down the shaft

Will be a maize down there of worked pannels but would be interesting to have a look

yup they ship it in from overseas lol

Possibly from the Salt mines in Ireland

Dont see why they dont just get some from boulby. They can bring out 26 tonnes ever 2 mins so cant see there being that much of a shortage lol
