Default ARCHIVE: The Lady Ailsa, Runcorn – June 2010 - 17-06-2010, 03:09

Originally myself and OneByOne had visited Weston Docks for something completely different, To look at the Christ Church but facing various complications we went wandering around the now derelict locks and docks. After a short walk around the Eddie Stobart warehouse we came across the Lady Ailsa.

From a distance it looked like a normal leisure vessel but as we got closer noticed that it was sat inside an 80ft Barge called the Halton. The Lady Ailsa from bow to the stern is about 45ft long and in its current state must be too fragile to sit in the dock alone.
Much of the lower deck inside was completely flooded and had large holes inside of the cabin, Both vessels will be under the water in a few years time.

The Lady Ailsa was named after Mary, Marchioness Ailsa who was of the last members along with her husband to live at the Culzean Castle and Estate in Scotland.

We got to the docks when it was light and left in the complete
darkness...

The Christ Church along with Weston Dock was bought by Eddie Stobart from British Waterways in 2004 with permissions for it be used as office/storage space.

Something a bit different for myself. Thanks for Looking, Gone...
