Planes ,No Trains & An Automobile

i payed a flying visit (no pun intended) to this site back in 2010 with kevsy21 on our way back from another explore, 2 yrs on i decided to have a proper look around whilst in the area.

at the back of the old liverpool airport, now the crown plaza hotel lies a whole host of plane stuff ,some looks like it used to belong to the new airport including an old secca car by the looks of it, various signage, plane tugs,a fighter jet in 3 pieces and various turbine engines, along with other aircraft.

a group called the Speke Aerodrome Heritage Group currently owns all of it and are trying to restore what they can.

the old Bristol 175 Britannia 308F still remains with little work been done since the last time i saw it also the British Aerospace Jetstream 41 (now converted into a flight sim) are still here along with the Percival P-50 Prince 6E.

all plane information is taken from www.airliners.net

explored solo ,even managed a bonus explore on the roof of the hotel.

Bristol 175 Britannia 308F
not much has changed with this aircraft since the last time i seen it ,i believe this to be a speke plane

British Aerospace Jetstream 41

Percival P-50 Prince 6E

Gloster Meteor F8
Having been on display at Lasham for a number of years, the museum closed so Speke Aerodrome Heritage Group split her in to three sections and brought her to the old Liverpool Airport apron. The aircraft is currently in three parts but will be put back together in the near future.

old secca car possibly (the automobile)

found one at the back undercover with a liverbird on the tail

turbine engine casings

old signage

Avro 748 Srs1/105
'Sisyphus' now lies on the old Liverpool Airport apron after being rescued by Speke Aerodrome Heritage Group, with generous donations from aircraft enthusiasts (£2,500). The aircraft was stood rotting in Blackpool for 5 years following the demise of Emerald Airways, and was on the brink of scrapping, until it was rescued. This is an important aircraft as it's a rare Mk1 Avro 748. It'll be restored and displayed for future generations.

this was once up there

various plane tugs

one of the many engines lying around

an old Pickett Hamilton pillbox top...im sure this was from the RAF speke site (there was 2 i think) ....although this may be from somewhere else
