Default Barren Hill House Anglsey Nov 2010 - 27-11-2010, 22:12

Barren Hill house was built in 1618 and then facelifted and extended in 1776. The family that owned it could not afford the up keep during the first world war due to the increase in taxes. It was used during ww2 by the Royal Engineers. During this time a fire destroyed the building and it has been abandoned since that time. It is located just outside Beumaris.
We were struggling to find the place and bumped into to other people with a similar interest (Hi Paul). We eventually found it together and it was well worth it.

Gate house

Main House

Main Entrance

One stair well still left

One flight of stairs missing

Bit scary getting back down

One of the last shots as it was getting dark

There are some good pictures on you tube of it before the fire. Its well worth a look

Another Ive meant to look at but not made it over yet. The van can be cosy if you turn the fire on and all the gas hobs, and the elec radiator in the bathroom so your bum dont freeze to the seat hehehhe it soon warms up give of take 30 mins or so.
