The Maths and Social Sciences Building, Manchester

The UMIST Building, as it is commonly known was built in 1968 and designed in a simple Brutalist fashion with a rectangular concrete slab block that has projecting service cores running through it acting as two towerettes

(Basically it's an eyesore by todays standards)

It was part of the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology (UMIST) until that university merged with the Victoria University of Manchester, to form the University of Manchester, in 2004

It has 17 stories and an overall height of 49M, making it the tallest building on the former UMIST campus

Now awaiting demolition, the building stands empty, providing some decent views of the City centre

One for the concrete lovers

Shouts to Leaf & TheFlu for hitting this one up
